Automatic pitch check

Start game checks for a reliable pitch before the scored run. The route preview is optional.

Aim by pitch

Enter the glowing band at any point in its 4-second window. Volume never scores pitch.

Keep moving

Every gate closes on time. A miss is recorded instead of holding the route in place.

Pitch Matching Game: How Pitch Ninja Works

Pitch Ninja is a browser voice control game for practicing deliberate pitch movement. In this pitch matching game, you sing rather than select an answer: your detected pitch controls the aim point. Sing higher and the point moves upward; sing lower and it moves downward. Bring it into the glowing band while the gate is open to secure a hit. You can use “la,” “ah,” or a comfortable hum. The task is to guide pitch, not to make the loudest sound.

Every gate has a fixed 4-second window. When the window closes, the game records a hit or a miss and moves forward. It never waits forever for a perfect note, so silence and misses do not secretly extend the round. This makes the result easy to interpret: it is a count of timed pitch targets reached during one completed route. It is not a score for vocal beauty, power, expression, health, range, or overall singing ability.

From microphone permission to the first scored gate

  1. Choose Low, Middle, or High before starting. Pick the register that feels easiest; you do not receive a bonus for choosing higher notes.
  2. Press Start game. The browser may ask for microphone permission. If permission is still pending, the timer and score remain stopped.
  3. After access is available, sing one comfortable steady note. The game checks whether it can detect a reliable positive pitch. This setup check is not scored and has no scored gate deadline, but it ends with a retry message if no reliable pitch appears within its bounded check period.
  4. When a reliable pitch appears, a visible three-second countdown begins. Keep breathing normally and wait until the countdown finishes.
  5. The first gate opens only after the countdown. Each later gate advances on the same four-second clock, whether the previous result was a hit or a miss.

You may use Hear route before Start game if you want to hear the target order. Route playback and microphone capture are separate: playback stops before capture begins, so the example is not mistaken for your voice. The microphone check also stays separate from the scored round. A sound during setup cannot give you an early hit, and time spent waiting for a reliable pitch cannot create an early miss.

Choose a comfortable target range

The Middle setting uses the notes listed in each level below. Low shifts every target down by five semitones, while High shifts every target up by five semitones. The shape of the route does not change. A rise still rises, a fall still falls, and every direction change remains in the same place. Gate count, four-second timing, pitch tolerance, reliable-pitch requirement, and the number of hits needed to clear the level also remain unchanged.

Range is a comfort control, not a difficulty multiplier. Start where you can produce an easy, unforced tone. If the Low route still feels too low or the High route feels strained, choose another range or stop. The game cannot determine whether a note is healthy for your voice, and it should not be used to push through pain, hoarseness, or fatigue.

Level 1 · Gentle

First Bridge

Short turns. This route has 4 gates and takes 16 seconds once scoring starts. Each target stays open for 4 seconds. The target band is ±50 cents. A reliable pitch sample inside that band secures the current hit, while the route still waits for the gate window to close before advancing. Clear the level by hitting at least 3 of 4 gates and finishing the full route.

Middle-range route: C4 → D4 → C♯4 → D♯4.

Level 2 · Easy

Echo Roofs

Wider steps. This route has 4 gates and takes 16 seconds once scoring starts. Each target stays open for 4 seconds. The target band is ±45 cents. A reliable pitch sample inside that band secures the current hit, while the route still waits for the gate window to close before advancing. Clear the level by hitting at least 3 of 4 gates and finishing the full route.

Middle-range route: C4 → D♯4 → C♯4 → E4.

Level 3 · Easy–Medium

Turnaround Tower

Change direction. This route has 5 gates and takes 20 seconds once scoring starts. Each target stays open for 4 seconds. The target band is ±42 cents. A reliable pitch sample inside that band secures the current hit, while the route still waits for the gate window to close before advancing. Clear the level by hitting at least 4 of 5 gates and finishing the full route.

Middle-range route: D4 → E4 → C4 → D♯4 → C♯4.

Level 4 · Medium

Twin Peaks

Two clean climbs. This route has 5 gates and takes 20 seconds once scoring starts. Each target stays open for 4 seconds. The target band is ±38 cents. A reliable pitch sample inside that band secures the current hit, while the route still waits for the gate window to close before advancing. Clear the level by hitting at least 4 of 5 gates and finishing the full route.

Middle-range route: C4 → E4 → C♯4 → F4 → D4.

Level 5 · Focused

Quick Switch

More direction changes. This route has 6 gates and takes 24 seconds once scoring starts. Each target stays open for 4 seconds. The target band is ±35 cents. A reliable pitch sample inside that band secures the current hit, while the route still waits for the gate window to close before advancing. Clear the level by hitting at least 5 of 6 gates and finishing the full route.

Middle-range route: C♯4 → D♯4 → C4 → E4 → D4 → F4.

Level 6 · Advanced

Moon Gate

Wide mixed route. This route has 6 gates and takes 24 seconds once scoring starts. Each target stays open for 4 seconds. The target band is ±30 cents. A reliable pitch sample inside that band secures the current hit, while the route still waits for the gate window to close before advancing. Clear the level by hitting at least 5 of 6 gates and finishing the full route.

Middle-range route: D4 → F4 → C4 → E4 → C♯4 → D♯4.

How hits, misses, and clears are decided

A hit needs a reliable detected pitch inside the active gate’s band. One reliable in-band sample at any point in that four-second window can secure the gate. The route still advances only when the fixed gate window closes. Volume is displayed only as input feedback; it does not replace pitch and cannot turn an out-of-band note into a hit. If no reliable pitch reaches the band before the window closes, that gate is a miss.

Clearing requires both finishing the entire route and reaching at least seventy-five percent of its gates, rounded up to a whole gate. That means three of four gates, four of five gates, or five of six gates. A strong opening cannot end a level early, and a late recovery still counts if the full route finishes with enough hits. After a clear, the next level becomes available in local browser progress.

What to do when the game cannot hear a stable pitch

Begin with one steady vowel or a hum instead of ordinary speech. Keep a consistent distance from the microphone and reduce loud backing tracks, fans, or room noise. Singing louder is not the first fix: it may increase the input meter without making the pitch clearer. A slightly longer, steadier sound at an easy volume usually gives the detector better evidence.

If access is blocked, allow microphone permission for this site and retry. If no microphone is found, check the system input device. If another app is using the microphone, close that capture first. When the setup check reaches its limit without a reliable pitch, the game reports that no reliable pitch is available and lets you retry; it does not invent a note or begin a scored route from silence.

Voice Games for Short Pitch Practice Sessions

Treat this voice challenge game as a short observation rather than an audition. First, listen to the route and notice only its direction changes. Next, choose a comfortable range and aim for the first gate without forcing the sound. On a replay, focus on one transition that you missed. This gives each attempt a small purpose without turning the score into a judgment about your voice.

If the moving aim point sits consistently above a gate, try easing the pitch downward; if it stays below, move upward gradually. Avoid chasing every tiny visual fluctuation. The target band already allows the exact tolerance shown for that level, and a reliable steady region matters more than frantic correction. Rest whenever the exercise stops feeling easy.

Privacy and the limits of a game score

Microphone audio is analyzed only during the active take in this browser. It is not uploaded or kept by the app. Leaving the page stops active audio resources. Completed level identifiers may be saved in local browser storage so this device can remember the next unlocked route. There is no account, public leaderboard, audio library, or payment step in this version.

Pitch Ninja measures a deliberately narrow task: reaching timed pitch bands. A result cannot explain vocal tone, breath technique, rhythm outside the gate clock, diction, style, expression, health, or complete singing ability. If you want a focused comparison outside the game, return to AI Voice Coach pitch practice. If your question is “can you rate my singing?”, read the honest pitch-feedback scope and limits before starting a take.

Pitch Ninja questions

Do I have to sing loudly to move the ninja?

No. Pitch Ninja looks for a reliable musical pitch, not maximum volume. Use an easy vowel or hum at a comfortable level. A louder sound does not earn a hit unless the detected pitch enters the current target band.

What happens if I miss a pitch gate?

The gate closes after its four-second window and the route continues. The miss remains in the round result, but the game does not freeze or force you to restart immediately. Finish the route to see whether you reached the level requirement.

Why is the game still checking my microphone?

Before scoring, the game waits for one reliable pitched sound. Silence, ordinary speech, background noise, or a very brief sound may not pass that check. Time spent in this check does not count toward the scored round, and it does not add a hit or a miss.

Does choosing Low, Middle, or High change the rules?

No. The range choice shifts every target in the route by the same amount so you can use a more comfortable register. The number of gates, gate timing, tolerance, and clear requirement stay the same.

Does a Pitch Ninja score rate my singing?

No. The score reports only how many timed pitch gates were hit in this route. It does not grade vocal tone, rhythm, diction, expression, range, health, style, or complete singing ability.

Is my game audio uploaded or saved?

No. Microphone audio is analyzed only while the take is active in this browser and is not uploaded or kept by the app. Level unlocks may be stored locally on the same device, and a share card contains no audio.
